How King County Metro’s New Training Tech Is Attracting Drivers and Improving Pass Rates
King County Metro (KCM) is a major public transit agency that needed to improve approaches to training to improve safety, increase pass-rates, and attract new drivers.
The Challenge
KCM faced challenges in improving pre-trip pass rates, as well as attracting new drivers to their program. The agency wanted to enhance its training program to make it more effective and appealing to potential candidates.
Our Solution
We developed a combination of simulator training and virtual reality experiences aimed at improving driver skills and increasing interest in KCM’s program. By offering an immersive and engaging training experience, we helped KCM make their program more attractive to new drivers while addressing the skills gap in pre-trip assessments.
Power in Numbers
Implementation
The solution was integrated into KCM’s training program, allowing new drivers to familiarize themselves with core driving tasks and pre-trip inspections through simulators and VR technology. We also worked with KCM to ensure the training environment was equipped to handle the diverse needs of all trainees.
More attractive training program, leading to a boost in new driver applications.
Better-trained drivers with increased safety awareness.
Enhanced retention due to more engaging and effective training methods.
Results
The combination of simulators and VR is completely transforming our training program. We’ve seen significant improvements in driver recruitment and safety.
